Tuesdays with SS

Haha sounds like some blatant plagiarism off a book. BUT wait! This is an entirely original series conjured by me in my free time. Just a collection of my thoughts haha. I'll try to publish it weekly,if time permits. Omg it may be boring haha. Quit reading if u have more important stuff to do lol. Here it goes! The inaugural edition:

On relationshipships:

After a guy and a girl reaches that phase in a relationship known as the boyfriend-girlfriend phase, what are the factors that account for the continuation of this phase? Perhaps it would be easier to understand this issue better if we delve into the initial stage first, that is, What causes a guy to fall for a girl, or vice versa?

Biological causes such as pheromones asides, other psychological factors also play a very important role. These include the initial feel-good factor, for example when a guy happens to meet an attractive young lady. He'll want to befriend her, to get to know her better and if they hit it off, they will eventually proceed to the bf-gf phase, assuming that the feelings are mutual. Relationships may also develop from the friendship phase. It's something that just happens spontaneously, imho. Two friends may have a deep interest in a sport, for example, and feelings for each other may develop after partaking in the sport. Relationships may even develop due to the fact that 2 people can talk about anything under the sun and yet not fail to entertain the other.

The last factor should be the most important factor in determining the continuity of the relationship, whether in ten weeks, 2 years or 30 years down the road. It is something which I believe deeply in. Picture this: You meet this person, and immediately via some quirks of the mind, a conversation topic springs to mind, and for the next ten minutes the two of you happily chat over that topic. The mutual understanding between the two deepens and who knows, a relationship may just form.( of the bfgf kind ;) )

Or rather, it's the presence of a kindred spirit, as someone put it to me last time. The someone who will always understand you, who will be there for you most of the time except when you prefer to be alone. It's not enough to try to be there for someone. There must be some actual bonding with the other person, to understand not on a superficial what he/she is feeling. It's something abstract, but I'm sure readers out there will know what it is about.
