Class Outing

Hoho today we had a class outing at Guan Lin's house, and over there we played card games and ate. Well the spread of food was quite ok but I wasn't that hungry so I went to play bridge. Haha I sort of "refreshed" my knowledge in it but somehow the tactics still elude me. Oh and many apologies to Gl for dirtying her house with peanuts (10$ each?) and for spilling stuff here and there! Haha one of the highlights of the day was the *ahem* dunking of qx in the pool. Hmm come to think of it, he was victimised cos he brought extra clothes.

Haha suddenly the class was addicted to bridge and we even played it on the way to Bugis, where we caught Constantine. Compared to Seoul Raiders, THAT was definitely a nicer show. Hmm plot's pretty flimsy though and run off the mill but effects wise, the show's great. Mm still gotta buy angel mortal stuff tmr. Good nights

haha i got this from a website:

How To Make Women Happy...
The Point System
(advice according to women)

In the world of romance, one single rule applies: Make the woman happy. Do something she likes and you get points. Do something she dislikes and points are subtracted. You don't get any points for doing something she expects. Sorry, that's the way the game is played.

Simple Duties:
You make the bed (+1)
You make the bed, but forget to add the decorative pillows (0)
You throw the bedspread over rumpled sheets (-1)

You leave the toilet seat up (-5)
You replace the toilet paper roll when it is empty (0)
When the toilet paper roll is barren, you resort to Kleenex (-1)
When the Kleenex runs out you use the next bathroom (-2)

You check out a suspicious noise at night (0)
You check out a suspicious noise and it is nothing (0)
You check out a suspicious noise and it is something (+5)
You pummel it with a six iron (+10)
It's her pet (-10)

Her Birthday:
You take her out to dinner (0)
You take her out to dinner and it's not a sports bar (+1)
Okay, it is a sports bar (-2)
And it's all-you-can-eat night (-3)
It's a sports bar, it's all-you-can-eat night, and your face is painted in all of the colors of your favorite sports team (-10)

A Night Out:
You take her to a movie (+2)
You take her to a movie she likes (+4)
You take her to a movie you hate (+6)
You take her to a movie you like (-2)
It's called DeathCop 9 (-3)
Which features cyborgs that eat humans (-9)
You lied and said it was a foreign film about orphans (-15)

Your Physique:
You develop a noticeable potbelly (-15)
You develop a noticeable potbelly and exercise to get rid of it (+10)
You develop a noticeable potbelly and resort to loose jeans and baggy Hawaiian shirts (-30)
You say, "It doesn't matter, you have one too." (-800)

Communication: When she wants to talk about a problem:
You listen, displaying what looks like a concerned expression (0)
You listen, for over 30 minutes (+5)
You listen for more than 30 minutes without looking at the TV (+100)
She realizes this is because you have fallen asleep (-20)

The Big Question: She asks, "Do I look fat?"
You hesitate in responding (-10)
You reply, "Where?" (-35)
Any other response (-20)

Mr. Right Rejection Form Letter

Dear (____rejectee's name here____ ),
I regret to inform you that you have been eliminated from further contention as my Mr. Right.

As you are probably aware, the competition was exceedingly tough and dozens of well-qualified candidates such as yourself also failed to make the final cut. I will, however, keep your name on file should an opening become available. So that you may find better success in your future romantic endeavors, please allow me to offer the following reason(s) you were disqualified from the competition:

[Check all those that apply]

___ Your breasts are bigger than mine.

___ Your last name is objectionable. I can't imagine taking it, hyphenating it, or subjecting my children to it.

___ The fact that our finest dining experience to date has been at McDonald's reveals a thriftiness that I find unappealing.

___ Your inadvertent admission that you "buy condoms by the truckload" indicates that you may be interested in me for something other than my personality.

___ You failed the 20 Question Rule, i.e., I asked you 20 questions about yourself before you asked me one.

___ Your legs are skinnier than mine. If you can FIT into my pants, then you can't GET into my pants.

___ Your "Putting on a few, aren't you babe?" comment, given the 9-months pregnant size of Your Own beer gut, was inappropriate.

___ You failed the credit check.

___ I find your inability to fix my car extraordinarily unappealing.

___ The fact that your apartment has been condemned reveals an inherent slovenliness that I fear is unbreakable.

___ The phrase "My Mother" has popped up far too often in conversation.

___ You still live with your parents, and attending night classes to get your High School diploma, are slight negatives.

___ You mention your ex-wife's name more than you mention mine.

Pre CNY

Hoho Chinese New Year's just round the corner! In fact it's this week. Yea but strangely I can't feel any sense of festivity in the air. Hm maybe that's because I haven't been in touch with the outside world for quite sometime. Haha I've not been reading the papers or seen the news on tv for a very long time. Would I even know if half the hemisphere got obliterated by meteorites. Hm it may be a result of the infamous hc aura. But in any case, there are many things to look forward to next week---food, foood, outings, (and $$?). Haha ciao

About S7B

Hmm I've been reading the class blog lately and it seems that a festering problem has at last come under discussion----that of cliques in s7b. Haha personally I hate to use the word cliques as the connotation is somehow negative. Well, to discuss such a matter, I guess we have to accept that cliques, to different extents, are inevitatble in classes and society as a whole. People of the same interests do gravitate and stick together because they enjoy the camaraderie of the group.
Ok I found this on google... "Some teens think cliques are just a normal part of school and give a sense of security and belonging.
"If you have a clique, you have a place where you belong," says Thomas, 15, from Mount Vernon Secondary.
"There are cliques at my school, but it's not such a big deal. People tend to blend in pretty well," agrees Audrey,17, from Catholic Junior College.
Here's some small comfort. Experts say school cliques are totally normal. "
However that is not to say cliques cannot exert destructive effect on individuals outside of it. People who are excluded will feel weird, like when u are eating at the hc canteen with another group. Sure we are all classmates, but there's this unspoken boundary between them. I felt this way before sometimes. Back in chs, there were people whom i've never speak more than 10 words in a month and coincidently, these are the same pple in my class haha. This is by no means a problem that can be solved overnight, but I think everyone in the class should take small steps towards ameliorating the problem. Say for example, a simple hello to him or a friendly hand gesture to her. The thing about "regulated random seating" won't bloody work as it isn't good to restrict individual freedom.
Yes, we can still mix with pple that share interests, but the guys can tone down on dota speak in the presence of other non-dota players. Yea and we certainly can have class lunches or dinners, preferably with round tables included. Hmm maybe that's the problem..there aren't round tables in schools! With round tables, u can take in everyone sitting at the table as opposed to a rectangular table where ur "talking radius" is confined to at most 3 pple opposite u and 2 beside u.
Ya one more year to fix this... =)

Chapter 2 - Frozen

A spine-chilling growl from the demon guard at the gates heralded the arrival of Kel' Thuzard, the Lich King. Ghouls campering around the courtyard of the Black Citadel, which was filled with vile, dank odours, stopped dead in their tracks. Their eyeballs bulged out of their sockets, saliva and mucus dripped from their deadly jaws. And as suddenly as they stopped, the Lich King swept in. The ghouls cowered from the evil that pervaded the air; they scampered to form a path for him.

Chronicles of Magina

For virtue, freedom, human rights, to fall,
Beseems the brave: it is a Saviour's death.
Of heroes only the most pure of all
Thus with their heart's blood tinge the battle-heath.
Anon

Prologue

The story starts with Rylai Crestfall, together with a few other paladins, on a secret mission to recruit ...to be continued..

Chapter 1- Heartache

The Lone Ranger of the Plains gave a long sigh and stretched his arms wide, causing the two recurved blades on his hands to glint sharply in the moonlight. In his mind's eye, he could sense the carnage that just took place, from the fresh craters that bore the unmistakable signature of his nemesis, Kel'Thuzard to the corpses of paladins that littered the Plains. Shaking his head in despair, he put aside his weapons and slowly caressed the face of Rylai. Deep inside, his heart was shattered, just the spirits of other men back at the Sentinel base. However, his eyes betrayed no emotion--for he had none. Born blind, he was instead gifted with extraordinary powers of smell, sense and hearing. "You couldn't have prevented this, even if you wanted to..."offered his companion, Purist Thunderwrath. "Yes I could! If only I arrived earlier to relieve them from the ambush. She needn't have died..."His heart ached even more as he saw Rylai, the Crystal Maiden, putting up a fierce fight with her paladin companions even though she was terribly outnumbered by the Scourge undead. Although well versed in the arts of Frost magic, ( she had an unparalleled talent in this aspect, having mastered the notoriously hard to master Freezing Field technique at the tender age of 17.) she was still no match for Kel' Thuzard, the Lich King. The fresh craters testified to the ferocity of the battle. He saw her being struck down by frost nova after frost nova from the Lich, defenseless as ghouls moved in to claim her. Suddenly, his fists clenched, and his resolve hardened. "The dead do not lie in vain." Magina said as he picked up his blades, inscribed with mysterious elven runes. With a straight look on his face, he set off in the direction of the desolated plains that marked start of Scourge territory. "Where do you think you are going! Throwing your life away won't help matters!" Thunderwrath boomed, but his advice fell on deaf ears. He ordered the troops to bring Rylai back to the Infirmary. He furrowed his brows and said, " Gather the troops, at dawn, we attack to save that bumbling fool."

blah blah blah

I just have something to say about people's character. I know, it's part of human instinct, but do we have to judge everything and anything by looks? Just because someone is a bit on the plump side doesn't mean labels can be smacked on her. Besides being unfair to the person, that's an impingement on her moral character and true self. Coal is black and disgusting, but yet it determined industrial prowness in the 19th century. Maybe we should get to know the person before condemning. Yea just a rant on a otherwise great Monday at the hui suo haha...

The Week After

Hmm just wondering about the state of matters after the first week in 2005. Notable events this week, meeting the people that make up 05s7b, aside from scanning for news in the paper. Nothing much to say about our junior class, except for the fact that some of them are quite talented.
Hmm some sages say that life is a tragedy marked by joys. True? Haha well judging by what happened, it might appear so. But such things bring out the best in people; it makes heroes out of people like you and me. There was this Dane who went back to the beach 6 times to rescue kids before getting claimed by the waves while others looked on. Well, in spite of everything, life goes on. What keeps us going has to be our loved ones. The husband who expended all his strength to save his wife before dying, the fisherman who thought of nothing more than saving his little girl. Which makes me wonder, whom do I hold dear the most? Ten years down, who is to say what may happen? Let fate decide? But don't our actions decide how things turn out and therefore it decides fate? I believe we decide how our lives turn out. But things are unpredictable. Who is to say with absolute certainty what will happen tomorrow?
Hmm till then, life goes on.

Haha time really flies and before you know it the first day of 2005 has already ended! Yup but it's really sad that the start of the new year has been marked by tragedy. Hmm based on what i've seen in the photos, the situation's really bad, straight out of a war zone. Ha I shan't launch into a speech into how bad it is...just that we should really help all we can. Being student's we can't donate much money but we can certainly help in other ways like dontating men and womenpower!

Happy New Year!

Haha I spent the transition into 2005 playing Dota. A bit of a dampener compared to the outings that others had but no fret! Haha cos I went to watch 2 movies earlier in the day, and was quite impressed with both of them. So that could be seen as a fitting farewell to 2004! Hmm there's a sudden impulse to make a reflection of 2004. But why dwell on the past? The slate has been totally wiped clean and I resolve to work hard for JC 2. Haha so that section is canned. And I also gao tim the section for new year resolution..haha I am fast and sweet...see ya!
